The Salvation Army Facility
The Salvation Army Facility
Location: Cairns, QLD
Client: Bryant Building Contractors

Project Overview:
Stratos Civil was engaged by Bryant Building Contractors to complete the full site preparation and early earthworks package for the new Salvation Army facility in Cairns.
The works included erosion control, topsoil stripping, ground treatment, cut/fill operations and the importation and compaction of screened fill to achieve a stable foundation for vertical construction.
Delivered with precise levels and strict QA, the site was handed over ready for building works to commence without delay.

Scope of Works:
Implementation of erosion and sediment control measures
Strip and offsite disposal of topsoil
Ground surface treatment to foundation level
Cut-to-fill operations using tractor scoops
Importation, placement and compaction of screened fill
QA testing and level verification
Challenges & Solutions:
Sensitive environmental controls → Installed and monitored ESC measures to protect surrounding drainage lines
Tight site access for material deliveries → Sequenced truck movements to minimise disruption to adjoining properties
Consistency of foundation levels → Used controlled cut/fill and rolling patterns to maintain tolerances

Project Outcome:
The site preparation package was delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with engineering requirements. The compacted fill platform and treated foundation provided a uniform, stable base for the building contractor, enabling the project to progress immediately into construction.
