Driveway Crossover & Footpath Upgrade
Driveway Crossover & Footpath Upgrade
Location: Redlynch, Cairns, QLD
Client: Powerlink Queensland

Project Overview:
Stratos Civil was engaged by Powerlink to complete a driveway crossover and footpath upgrade in Redlynch. The project involved the demolition of existing kerb, channel and footpath sections, installation of erosion and sediment controls, construction of a pedestrian detour, and the full reconstruction of a new reinforced concrete driveway.
The works were carried out in a live suburban environment with strict safety, access, and public interface requirements.
Scope of Works:
Installation of erosion and sediment control measures
Establishment of a safe pedestrian detour and public access management
Demolition and removal of existing kerb, channel and concrete footpath
Formwork installation for new driveway crossover
Placement of reinforcement steel to engineering specifications
Concrete pour, finishing and curing
Site reinstatement and cleanup
Challenges & Solutions:
High pedestrian activity
→ Implemented a clearly signed detour with barriers, ensuring safe public access throughout construction.
Tight suburban footprint
→ Sequenced demolition and construction in controlled stages to minimise disruption and maintain driveway access for neighbouring properties.
Weather exposure during concrete works
→ Scheduled concrete pours within favourable weather windows and used appropriate curing controls.

Project Outcome:
The upgraded driveway crossover was completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with Powerlink’s engineering and access requirements. The new reinforced concrete structure provides improved strength, drainage performance and longevity. All public areas were reinstated to a high standard, with clear pedestrian access restored immediately upon completion.
