Project Overview:

Stratos Civil was engaged by Geo Group to deliver a ground improvement and site preparation package for a development on Best Street, Yorkeys Knob. The works required controlled removal of unsuitable materials, foundation preparation, and importation of certified fill to achieve a stable building platform in sandy coastal soils.

The project demanded precise sequencing, strict environmental controls, and consistent compaction results to ensure a reliable foundation for the upcoming construction phase.

Scope of Works:

• Erosion and sediment control implementation across the site

• Strip and offsite disposal of topsoil

• Removal and replacement of in-situ sand layers

• Ground surface treatment and foundation improvement

• Import, placement and compaction of screened fill

Challenges & Solutions:

Sensitive coastal environment
→ Implemented stringent erosion and sediment controls to prevent runoff and protect surrounding waterways.

Unstable in-situ sand layers
→ Removed unsuitable material and replaced it with certified screened fill compacted to required densities.

Variable ground conditions
→ Completed foundation treatment and verification testing to ensure uniform ground performance across the site.

Project Outcome:

The works were delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with Geo Group’s engineering requirements. The site was handed over with stable, compacted foundations and improved ground conditions ready for the next stage of development.
